My great friend is gone. My heart aches. All I have now is the happy thoughts of times we spent together in Michigan and Florida. It brings to mind how short our lives are and how important it is for each of us to make the most each day we have to share with others our good fortunes. I will miss my phone calls with George which happened almost twice a month. I regret we did not talk before he passed. George, my good friend–may you rest in peace and I send my prayers to your family. Larry Watterworth

My family came to know George and Diane through their daughter, Ruthie. If children are a reflection of their upbringing, we knew we were in the presence of some wonderful people. They exuded kindness, intelligence and integrity. They were a couple in love with great respect for each other. George seemed to be the “dad” every girl should have growing up. The type of husband that all moms want for their daughters. We had a great laugh when, after explaining to George that my father didn’t speak English very well, he proceeded to speak to my dad in a “louder” voice while still speaking in English!!! That told me that George fit in with people from all walks of life. What an impression he made on all of us.

My family and I extended our deepest condolences to Diane, Ruthie, Chris and all of George’s family.

With love,
Helen Katopodis and the Katopodis family

I remember visiting George and his parents on numerous occasions back in the fifties at the High Life Inn in Saginaw. My grandfather, John Saites, was a cousin to Chris Psetas and grandpa would take me along for the short ride from Flint, MI. Chris, would chase me around the kitchen with a live lobster. Our Ukrainian connection, one of the Chalenko brothers, was one of the bartenders and would make Shirley Temples for us. Sometime in the 60s, George and I wandered through Athens together – fond memories. There were 48 Saites families in the village (Krokilio) and many with the same name that they began using nicknames for each family. Psetas is believed to be a nickname according to some of the old timers there. I had dinner just several years ago with George and his family in Tampa. My condolences to Diana and the kids. The Lord picks the nicest flowers in his garden first! cousin Danny Mortensen

George would always call me “little sister” but it was not just a name…it was how he and his beautiful wife Diana made me feel everyday. He was a man of character and integrity. A true hero for my three daughters and a beacon of light during my hardships. I want to remember him laughing and trying to teach his ” little sister” how to Greek dance! He made a tremendous difference in our lives. There is no story that doesn’t carry his name in our household and his presence will forever remain.
When he would pick up the girls to take them to school in the morning, he always had a joke to tell. Today those girls tell jokes like he did and never forget his guidance.
Dear Ruthie, Chris and Diana, we are so sorry for your loss. Our hearts are broken.
May his memory be eternal. Will miss you “big brother”

George & I were good friends, but, of course. the same could be said by darned near every soul who ever had the privilege of crossing paths with my friend. We met as two struggling attorneys in West Pasco and I had the pleasure of working with George on many cases. I was in awe of George. H was, without exception, devoted to each and every client . They, in turn respected, admired, and in many cases worshiped the ground he walked on.
Later, in our respective careers, George made several appearances before me in court. He did such an exemplary job that I asked him if him anticipated making a habit of trial work, George responded, “Lord no, I only did it for my clients and I hope not to repeat it anytime soon”.
My wife, Mary and I want to express our most sincere condolences to Diana and their children. I want George’s children to know that their father was a good, kind, and decent man that acted with integrity and honesty in all things.
I will miss my friend.

Dear Servant of God George,
It is with a heavy heart, that I come to learn of your passing and leaving those in the Militant Church without your earthly presence. You have truly led an exceptional and devoted life, through your example in your commitment to Our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, to many of humanity. I was graced to know you and your LOVE FOR ALL, by your involvement in every aspect of St George Greek Orthodox Church in New Port Richey, Florida and the AGAPE (Christ’s love) you shared with everyone you came into touch. “For as the body without the spirit is dead , so faith without works is dead also.” (letter of James2:26 NKJV) You were the living example of Our Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit (living inside and manifesting through you) to the Glory of God the Father (please read St Paul’s first letter to the Corinthian people chapter 13). 1stCorithians13, which ends in verse 13 ” Three things will last forever— faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1Corith13:13 (NLT). May your memory be Eternal.
With Agape to all his relatives, friends, and all who were touched by him (to the Glory of God)
Christos Cokkinias
