JORDANS, Warren Earl, 77, of New Port Richey, Fl died on June 28, 2022 from acute myeloid leukemia. Born in Buffalo, NY on June 17, 1945 to Hans and Edith Jordans, he had an idyllic childhood growing up in the Town of Alden, NY. He studied at Alden Central High School, Edinboro University (B.S.), and Canisius College (M.S.).
Warren was drafted out of a high school teaching career during the Vietnam era, enlisting in July of 1968. He would tell the story that he only wanted to serve his two years and then go home, but while having his wisdom teeth removed in a field hospital, it was noticed on his medical record that he was a college graduate, thus qualifying him for Officer Candidate School (OCS). That decision to attend OCS would change the trajectory of his life. He faithfully served in the New York Army National Guard for over 31 years and held qualifications in both the Engineer and Armor branches. Over the course of his career, LTC Jordans held several key staff leadership positions to include S-1, S-2, S-3 S-4 and Executive Officer in the HHC 152 Engineer Battalion, 221 Engineer Group, HHC 1-127th Armor Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 42nd Infantry Division and HHD STARC Headquarters. He commanded at both the Company and Battalion command levels.
Warren graduated from numerous military leadership schools to include Officer Basic Course, Officer Advanced Course, Counter Terrorism Training, SWAT Training, and Command and General Staff College. He was highly decorated with numerous state/federal awards and citations including the Army Commendation Medal (3rd award); Army Achievement Medal (2nd award); National Defense Service Medal; Army Reserve Good Conduct Medal (8th award); Armed Forces Reserve Medal (3rd award); NYS Conspicuous Service Medal; NYS Meritorious Service Medal, NYS Military Commendation Medal (2nd award); NYS Long & Faithful Service – 30 years; NYS Recruiting Medal; NYS Aid to Civil Authority (5th award); Counterdrug Service Ribbon (2nd award); NYS Humane Service Medal (4th award); and Expert Infantry Badge.
He also worked PT for the Erie County, NY Sheriff’s Office and City of Buffalo, NY – Scientific Staffs. Later in his career, he ran NY State’s Tri-star program, one of only three SWAT training programs in the US, where he trained over 6,000 SWAT officers from across the country. Tri-star was founded in 1981 when FBI agents trained with the NYS Army National Guard with a mission to train police in the resolution of high-risk incidents or violent situations, barricaded armed fugitives, drug raids or general violent situations. (This background helps us to understand why Warren never got flustered about anything.) He also had the honor of being appointed by Mary Jo White, US Attorney for the Southern District of NY, to the New York/New Jersey High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Office of National Drug Control Policy Task Force as the Officer in Charge, High Risk Entry Program.
A lifetime public servant, Warren was also involved in many community organizations throughout his life. He was twice President of the Lorenzo Burrows American Legion Post in Buffalo, NY, former President of the Naples, NY Rotary International Club (where he was named a Paul R. Harris Fellow), was a Scottish Rite 32nd degree Freemason with the John Hodge Masonic Lodge #815 in Naples, NY, a Veterans of Foreign Wars Life Member, Military Officers Association of America Life Member, Disabled American Veterans Life Member, Masonic War Veterans of New York member, and a lifetime member of the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He was an Elder in the Presbyterian church. Most recently, Warren was elected as the President of Seven Springs Golf and Country Club in NPR, where he and his wife have owned property since 2015.
During his “down time”, Warren loved spending time with his wife, family, friends and pets and enjoying a good, expensive cigar with either an Old Fashioned or glass of Coopershawk Sweet Red wine in his hand. Before moving to Florida, Warren owned 5 different Harley Davidson motorcycles and traveled over 200,000 miles over the years with Roberta behind him – to Sturgis, to Tennessee, Montana, Wyoming, Maine, to any ice cream stand anywhere – just for the love of riding. He also owned boats (and was a pretty good water skier even in his sixties!), a tuxedo Mustang, and most recently, his prized Corvette Stingray.
Warren will be remembered for an abundance of qualities. First and foremost – for his grace, courage and spirit. He was also generous in kind and in spirit, a True Leader, and a “Man’s Man”. His sense of humor kept those around him laughing, and his calm collectiveness and positive practicality made people feel at ease and to oft seek his counsel. He was a superb storyteller and with that deep voice of his, could make an everyday occurrence into an exciting adventure.
Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Edith Jordans, and his nephew David Michael (of beloved memory). He is survived by his loving wife, Roberta; sister, Lesley; daughters Kristin (Marc) DiGiore, Jamie (Nicholas) Ricigliano; bonus children, Richard Laird; Monica (Michael) Costanzo and Colleen Hutchinson; cherished grandchildren, Dominic, Ella Giana, Noah, Ryder, Adriana and Alexa; many cousins, nieces, nephew and beloved cats, Moose (with whom he shared his morning coffee) and Mooney.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, 8825 Old Country Road. 54, New Port Richey FL 34653. Roberta, you and the family have our deepest sympathy. We were shocked by this sad news. We were good friends with Warren over the years. There were so many fond memories of him…. One fond memory was when our daughter was hit by a car and he wanted to take us out for dinner. She was in the hospital for three months. Because we didn’t want to leave the hospital, Warren insisted on us having our dinner there. As you would expect from him, he did that several times…A good friend indeed…💖 May he rest peacefully….

Warren had such a way with people. He was so warm to us when we joined 7 Springs Golf and Country Club. We are so grateful we had a chance to learn about his service, of your family and the time you shared together. He touched so many.

They say it’s never too late to change, clearly I did not get that memo. Wishing I could change some things today. Warren always had my back, I was just too selfish to realize it. I hope he knows this. My kids will someday thank him because they know I’ve got their back just like he had mine. He will be missed. I wish we got that breakfast in.

Dear Roberta and Family,
We know there are no words that can halt the immense loss you feel , but if only in comfort please know that Warren was one of our favorite people in Shears. He truly lit up the shop every time he walked in. If there ever was an award for a real “most interesting man in the world” he would win it every time. His kindness, support and just overall the amazing person he is will be truly missed. I’m honored and humbled that he had requested me to do his hair, (not knowing it would be the last time), I am grateful to have been there to at least one more time to give him a hug and say goodbye. I have the utmost respect for him in so many ways. Not only was he all this greatness but he has a wife (YOU) who matched his spirit in every way perfectly. Please know myself and the girls are here for you any time, just come in and have a laugh (or a cry) with us like we do! With much love hugs and prayers… Lori, Gabrielle, Meghan & Little Gabby… Your hair family at Shears of Trinity ❤️
