James Charles Moore Jr.

James Charles Moore Jr.

March 12, 1937~July 11, 2022
James Charles Moore, Jr, (Jim) was born in Holyoke, Massachusetts to first-generation Irish Americans and lived the American dream, including service and adventure. Following a valiant fight with cancer, Jim passed away on July 11, 2022, and his family will cherish the memory of his 85 years with us.
After graduating from Canisius College, Buffalo, New York, Jim was commissioned as a U.S. Naval officer in Newport, Rhode Island. His tours of duty took him to Hawaii, the Philippines, and throughout the United States -family in tow. Along the way, he earned an MBA from the University of Michigan and achieved the rank of
Commander, US. Upon 20 years of decorated service, Jim retired from his commission and joined the team at Honeywell Corporation in Florida to manage work on guidance systems and technologies for NASA’s Space Shuttle program.
His travels weren’t just confined to his profession, and Jim’s can-do spirit could fill an unwritten memoir Oh The Places You Will Drive with harrowing road trip tales from New Zealand to Brazil. On his last birthday, his wife Mary Ann spoke to many of us, “You have made my life a wonderful adventure.”
Jim will be mourned by his wife Mary Ann Moore (née Conover); children James (II0), Catherine (Joseph), Patrick (Cynthia), Conan, stepson Joe; grandchildren Andrew, Mary Cate (Shane), Rohan, Brendan, Garrett, Elliot, and Hayley; as well as extended family and a wide circle of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents,
James and Nora (née O’Donnell), and siblings Michael (O..F.S.) and Mary (Adrian)
Anyone who knew Jim knew his hospitality and his witty humor. We are certain he will be organizing a divine table for our own heavenly arrivals.
Jim will receive Military Funeral Honors and interment at Florida National Cemetery. A Memorial Service for Him will be held this fall.

Wonderful trips he led us on. His personality, something we all appreciated.
Couldn’t as for a better brother in law.
Will so miss our navigator!

Mary Ann and family

I just read about Jim’s passing and want to express my deepest condolences to you. I know his loss will leave a deep hole in your hearts that I’m hoping the memories all of the years of enjoyment you had with Jim will help fill, if just a little.

I enjoyed working with Jim for a while a Honeywell – he was a very intelligent man with a great sense of humor.

May God hold you all in His arms until you can be together with Jim again.

Mary Ann & family: I knew and worked with Jim in his procurement role at Honeywell. Really appreciated his straightforward, ethical and competent way of doing business. I liked him personally as a friend. Take comfort as you grieve, in knowing that he’s in a better place now.

So many wonderful memories when I was young! Loved him as the best big brother! Can you imagine having a baby and putting up with two wild teenagers while stationed in Newport RI!? I still say it was the best summer I ever had. Going to the Newport Jazz and folk festivals, boys picking us up for the beach! I hope I babysat Jamie once in awhile. Jim made lobster in a pot of boiling water. Made us do squats to stretch our tight pants. 😂 next summer was Virginia Beach, lots of beach trips. Then DC! My friend and I were going out and our car was covered by a blanket as we approached the car he jumped out 😂 then when I was going to get married, I called Jim’s brother and asked if he would marry me? “No, I can’t, I’m a Priest!” Same sense of humor. My husband got him a book for Christmas entitled “All I know about golf, by Jim Moore” he opened it and the pages were blank! He laughed so hard and threw it ! Lots and lots of great memories, love Kathi
