On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, loving husband, father, and grandfather, Timothy Steven Verh, passed away unexpectedly at age 56. Tim was born on May 25, 1966 in Euclid, Ohio. Tim was passionate about helping others and serving the community.

Tim was a veteran of the US Navy and began his law enforcement career with the Kirtland Police Department in 1988.  He was sworn in as a Euclid Police Officer on April 6th, 1991 and retired on June 3rd, 2019.   During his 28-year career in Euclid, Tim received numerous commendations and awards.  He held an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice and was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University’s Public Safety Leadership Academy.

Tim was one of the EPD’s four original Community Policing Officers from the 1990’s and served in that capacity for nearly eight years.  Tim’s love of fishing was known to all and he shared that passion with the youth of Euclid.  He started the “Hooked on Fishing, not on Drugs” program in the early 1990’s and that program continues to this day.  In 2008, he was assigned to the Traffic Division and became the division’s commander when he was promoted to Sergeant in 2011.  Tim then worked as a Patrol Division Platoon Sergeant until he was promoted to Lieutenant in 2015.  Tim became a Patrol Division Platoon Commander and remained in that position until his retirement. An avid fisherman, Tim followed his dream of retiring to Florida so that he could enjoy fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. Tim didn’t stay retired for long, as he joined Pasco County in 2022 as a Code Enforcement Officer.

Tim was a dedicated public servant, loving husband, wonderful father, and proud grandfather. Tim left behind his wife Tammy Verh, children Brandon Verh (Nicole Dianzumba), Courtney Doles (Stephen Doles), and Jordan Verh (Ashlyn Dugan), grandson Leonardo Doles, father Jon Verh (Terri Verh), brother Vernon “Chip” Verh, brothers and sisters-in-law Larry Lucas, Anna Lucas, Joe Lucas, and Marianne Lucas, mother-in-law Annabelle Neshkin (Peter Malone), and father-in-law Larry Lucas. Tim was preceded in death by his mother Geraldine Verh and mother-in-law Lorraine Lucas. Tim bonded with his children by taking them fishing any chance he got. Tim always put his children first, always letting them reel in the big fish, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams, and guiding them throughout life. He was loved dearly and will be incredibly missed.

A memorial service celebrating Tim’s life will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10 AM at St. Bede the Venerable in Mentor, OH.
