James Marvin Anderson, 99, of New port Richey, Florida, passed away on December 22nd, 2022.
James Marvin Anderson was born in Calumet City, Illinois, on November 27th, 1923, the oldest of four sons, Donald, Richard and Norman, all deceased. His parents were Emma and Oscar. He peacefully passed away from natural causes on December 22nd, 2022. He lived almost 60 years in Calumet City, Illinois, then a couple of years in Tennessee, and settled in New Port Richey, Florida.
James had a very active life. He graduated from T.F. North, in Calumet City, Illinois in 1941. While in High School, he held the number one record for swimming and diving. He served in the Airforce during WWII, from 1942-1945. He was in the automobile business until retiring.
In his 60s, James started participating in triathlons throughout the country that continued until his mid-eighties. At 80, he received the Florida Amateur Sportsman of the year award from the Governor in Tallahassee. He carried the torch at the Senior Olympics in Pittsburgh that year and won many two gold, one silver and one bronze medals in swimming events. He taught hundreds of children and adults to swim at the Jewish Community Center. He continued to go to the gym regularly until six weeks before his death. He loved the Bucs, Lightning and the Rays. At 91, he threw the first pitch at a Rays game.
James has a lifelong devotion to God and Christianity. He was a founding member with Trinity Lutheran Church (Longleaf), New Port Richey, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Jean Anderson, and their seven children, Andrea Lynn Anderson, Sherry Jean Kemock, James Gregory Anderson, Keith Andrew Anderson, Anthony Wayne Anderson, Kimberly Cay Mellies, and Dorothy Jane Casto. He also had a son from a previous marriage, Stephen Michael Anderson, deceased 2013. James is also survived by his twelve grandchildren – Christian, Bradley, Eric, Aaron, Jessica, Andrew, Claude, Christopher, Rebecca, Emily, Johnathan, and Anthony. He also is survived by eleven great-grandchildren-Oliver, Ethan, Olivia, Shea, Sienna, Ryan, Madisyn, Charlotte, Kylee, Hunner, and Esther.
James will be laid to rest with a military ceremony at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, Fl 33513, on January 23rd, 2023 at 11:00 AM.

My family sincerest condolences to all the Anderson family. Mr Anderson was a great man, that loved life and lived it to the fullest. I got a front row seat for many years of his endless love and support for his son Anthony Anderson. Every son and daughter should be so lucky to have a farther like him. May you rest in peace.
