James M. Heinz, 62, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on February 20, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Susanne Heinz; his daughter, Nicole (Andreas) Haro; his parents, Jack and Nora Heinz; his sisters, Diane Caputo and Laura (Pete) Kolnicki; and his grandchildren, Elijah, Hannah, and Mikayla.

I attended High School with Jim and we were police explorers together before being hired onto the Clearwater Police Department in the early 80s. Jim was also friendly, fun, and gregarious, and I can honestly say that I really never saw him down in the dumps…he was always upbeat and smiling. I saw him not too long ago at a CPD retirees function, and he was as happy and upbeat as ever. I was saddened to learn of his cancer diagnosis and was further saddened to hear of his passing. To his family, I offer my most sincere and heartfelt condolences. I know that his loss leaves a tremendous void in your family, and I pray to God Almighty for peace and strength for all of you as you navigate your lives without Jim. May he rest in peace. Farewell, old friend…fair winds and following seas.
