On Thursday, April 6, 2023, David Streng died at Accent Care Hospice in Largo.
David was born on November 20, 1945 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in
death by his parents, Melber and Anna Streng, his sister Barbara (Shannon), and
his brother Charles. He is survived by his wife Mary (Goforth), son David, and
daughters Kimberly (Hawkins) and Corissa (Pepples) as well as his grandchildren
and nieces and nephews.
David graduated from Elder High School in Cincinnati and enlisted in the US
Navy in 1963. David enrolled and graduated from the University of Cincinnati
with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1971. He started his career in disposal and cleanup
of hazardous waste at Environmental Enterprises, Inc. in Cincinnati, Ohio. David
moved to Florida and started his company Gulf Coast Environmental in
Clearwater, FL. Dave and Mary met and married in 1985. They spent 10 years in
St. Petersburg before moving to California for a new job opportunity. They
moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico in 2000 to work for URS at the Dept. of Energy
Waste Isolation Pilot Plant.
Dave and Mary moved back to St. Petersburg in 2014 and he retired shortly
after returning to Florida.

Dave was a pioneer in the disposal of hazardous waste. He was a mentor to many people. He was a great man. I am glad to have worked with him.
