Thomas N. Von Ohlen, 72, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away April 25, 2023.

Tom loved life and he loved his family.  He was a big man with a big heart.  Married in June, 1984 after a telephone friendship and a whirlwind courtship.  Tom was one to always take chances and he certainly took one when he married Becky and took over raising her son, Jeremy, who was six years old at the time.  38 years later, life was still an adventure for Tom.  Tom was drafted into the Army and was stationed in Germany in the late 60’s.  He spent the remainder of his life in some type of automotive industry, ultimately co-owning a Tuffy Shop with his partner and friend, Mike Rives.  Tom and Becky moved no less than four times throughout their marriage and took a big chance in 2020 and moved to Florida to be near family.  Little did he know that he moved into a golf community that embraced him fully.  Tom started golfing again and enjoyed the lunches afterwards more than the round of golf.  Some of Tom’s favorite things about living on Bassett Lane were the driveway drinks on Wednesday evenings and attending the breakfast meetings on Saturday mornings with the guys.  Tom didn’t know a stranger and would converse with anyone, from people he didn’t know, to the servers at the Country Club.  Tom embraced Florida and Florida embraced him.  Besides the things above mentioned, Tom enjoyed cars (the faster the better), Ohio State football, NASCAR, travel and adventures.  Although never discussed in front of Becky, Tom also enjoyed debating politics.  He would never turn down an opportunity to talk about current events.  Tom was a fun-loving man who was up for anything life dealt him.  He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Tom was a big, fun-loving guy who did embrace life to its fullest and was never afraid to voice his opinion. I loved that about him. I remember sitting in the backseat with Becky on the way to NASCAR races and getting there in the blink of an eye and maybe a tinkle in our pants because Tom always drove pedal to the metal, but we always got there safe. He will be sorely missed. RIP Big Guy. Love you. Amy Sigman and family.

We are so glad that we met Tom through Becky back in Ohio. We loved seeing Tom and firm events and watching tell a story ending in a boisterous laugh. Becky was so lucky to have him, and he was so lucky to have Becky. It was a blessing to watch such a happy marriage and get to bask in its glow a little. We will miss Tom a lot, and we will be here for you Becky if you need anything.

Love, Rex and Laurel

We are so glad that we were able to meet Tom through Becky back in Ohio. We loved attending firm functions and watching Tom spin a story ending in his boisterous laughter. Tom and Becky obviously had a wonderful marriage, and we are grateful we were able to witness it. Tom was lucky to have Becky, and Becky was lucky to have Tom. We will miss Tom and lot, and we will do anything that you need to help you Becky during this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to ask.

Love, Rex and Laurel

Tom will be so very missed in our hearts and on Bassett Lane. We loved traveling with he & Becky and being friends. A most generous, kind and loving human being. We have spent many hours playing games (ankle, knee & toes) going out to dinner and having lively conversations about how best to improve the world. Our love and prayers, Craig & Cheri

Tom was a wonderful neighbor for 18 years and an even better friend. We have so many memories of holidays spent, Buckeye football, your surprise birthday party (Tom and I could NOT get you out of the house and over here so I could take you back over for “surprise”!). The numerous dinners, anniversaries, birthdays…… actually we could find any reason to celebrate! A friendship for the ages. Miss you and love you, dear friend
