On June 5, 2023, Lynn Ann Watkins-Shetz, 61, of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband, Raymond Shetz, by her side.
Born August 5, 1961, in Patterson, New Jersey, she moved to Joppatowne, Maryland in her younger years. There she spent most of her adult life working in the recycling industry. She ultimately retired from Canusa before relocating to Florida to enjoy warmer weather.
She was a beautiful soul with a contagious laughter and a smile so bright she made the sun jealous. She found happiness serving others and taking care of loved ones. Her selfless nature and generosity was unmatched. When she wasn’t focused on those around her, she enjoyed traveling and spending time anywhere the sand met the sea. The beach was her happy place.
Lynn was many things to many people, but she was a hero to us all. Her relentless fight with cancer showcased just how tough of a person she was. Regardless of what doctors or caregivers had to say, she always carried a positive attitude, not allowing negative thoughts to affect her ability to persevere.
Her legacy will be one of optimism, courage, and gratitude. She is now on a journey to white sandy shores and crystal clear waters beyond our wildest dreams. We will constantly be reminded of her anytime we put on sunscreen or watch the sun sink below the horizon.
She will be greatly missed by her husband, Raymond Shetz; her children Joseph Shetz and Stephanie Shetz; her daughter-in-law Noëmie Néré; her sister-in-law Laura “Lori” Barbieri; her nieces Nicole Barbieri (fiancé John Francin) and Alyssa Barbieri-Badano (husband Chris Badano and children Charlotte and Bianca) and her best friend Cathy Garitty.
Lynn was preceded in death by her sister, Teresa Barbieri; her brother, Anthony Barbieri; her mother, Lorraine Barbieri and her father, Anthony Barbieri.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled both in Florida and Maryland in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, Lynn requested that contributions be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance, whose work will one day find the cure we are all hopeful for.
