Stephen Jay Myers died in the dignity of his home surrounded by loving family on the morning of June 15th, 2023.
Steve was born to Master Sergeant Charles S. Myers and Marilyn J. Myers on November 4th, 1952 in Waco, Texas. Steve was a born cowboy who sat most comfortably in a saddle. Steve had a brother Lieutenant Colonel Charles S. Myers Jr. (now deceased) and a sister Cherie Muffet. Steve fell in love with Linda “Scochie” Myers while their families were stationed in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The high-school sweethearts married on January 28th, 1971. Shortly thereafter, the couple was blessed with their daughter, Shannon.
At Steve’s core was duty to family, and he worked his life to secure their needs. Steve got a job at Household Finance, which brought the family to New Port Richey, Florida in October 1978. Steve would go on to work for the New Port Richey Post Office from 1986 until he retired in 2013. Steve believed each of us has the power to improve ourselves and our lives. He made the point to tell us—not to have a good day—but to make it a good day.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve’s skill made him a man to be envied either on the fairway or tending a grill. Steve had a tender spirit, and his patience and care made him a nurturing father to his family and also to his beloved cats. Steve was fortunate enough to learn before he passed that his granddaughter Mackenzie (who called him Boppie) was pregnant with what will be his first great grandchild.
Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Scochie, his daughter Shannon Myers Hensley, his son-in-law John Hensley, his granddaughter Mackenzie Bavol-Marques, his grandson-in-law Tristan Bavol-Marques, and his future great grandchild.

Scochie and Shannon, I was so sorry to learn that Steve had passed in June. My time in New Port Richey working for Steve at HFC was a great time for me. He was a great manager, and a great inspiration. He promoted me to manager and I went on to work for HFC for 10 years. Although we have not been in touch since I left Florida, I often think of all my friends there. Fond memories. My deepest condolences to you and your families. Penny Siok Foskit

Scochie and Shannon,
Vi and I just found out about Steve’s passing from Penny. Please accept our heartfelt condolences. We have not forgotten all the years and good times we enjoyed together. A light has gone out from this world, but I prefer to think that he is not gone, just gone ahead.
