John Albert Evans II, 50, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on June 27th, 2023. He is survived by his parents John and Linda Evans; sister Jennifer Watson and her husband, Eric; nephew Eli; niece Sydney; as well as his loving family and friends.
John was born on April 30, 1973 in Hollywood Florida. He attended school in South Florida and graduated with degrees in Psychology and Philosophy at Florida International University. He spent several years serving the community, working with Habitat for Humanity and later Americorps. He then attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN where he received another BA degree in theology. After completing this program, he spent the next three years at the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. Although his eventual career took him away from this path, he always practiced a life of service.
He found a career in the trucking industry and was the owner-operator of a truck where he was able to see the country traveling with his dog over the years. John always loved being out in nature, both hiking in the mountains of North Carolina as well as surfing along the beaches of Florida. He appreciated thought provoking books, classic comedy, and quality music. He spent time practicing his guitar, reflecting on life, but nothing brought him as much consistent happiness over the years as his dogs.
John had a way of connecting with people that made whoever he was talking to feel like the only one in the room. He will be deeply missed by his friends, his family, his dog, and all who knew him.
His funeral service will be held Friday July 14, 2023 at 11AM at theChapel located at 8833 Mitchell Blvd, Trinity, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to theChapel Community Church with the notation that the donation be directed to “The Counseling Center” that is expected to be opening this fall.
