Duane John Brey, “Big D” of Spring Hill, FL left us on May 28, 2023 after a brief illness.  Duane was 90 years young.  He was born in Madison, Wisconsin and grew up in nearby Verona, Wisconsin.

Duane proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years during the Korean War and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.    He earned a National Defense Service Medal and was with the 81^st Engineering Boat Company.

He was a salesman by trade and sold everything from furnaces to insurance to jewelry and RV’s during his life time.  He had a good sense of humor, a love for golf, boating, RVing and a love of animals.  Mostly he loved his family.

Duane is survived by his wife of 44 years ( 47 years together ) Susan Brey, sister Julieanne Miller, stepsister Isabel Laing, daughter Christine Ellarson, and sons John, Mike, Wally and Jason Brey.  Duane also has numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was predeceased in death by his daughter Joni Brey.

He will be put to rest with full Military Honors at the Bushnell National Cemetery in Florida.  Duane was a special man and will be missed and loved forever by his wife and family.  He will be waiting for me.  May God Bless and keep him close.
