Penny A. Lutgen passed away on January 15th, 2024 in the care of Michael Nastasiak (her life partner of 24+ years) and the blessed hands of Hospice. Her fur babies surrounding her with the support and love of friends and family till the very end.
Born April 17th 1958 to Clyde and Annette Lutgen.
Penny lived her younger years with her siblings Vance and Joni along with a large family and lots of friends in the beautiful area of Bemis Point, New York surrounded by Chautauqua Lake and the beauty of the outdoors. Penny loved nature but did not enjoy the cold weather! This is what led her to the “Sunshine State” in her young adulthood.
She was quite the independent women with a strong will but enormous heart. Her wonderful sense of humor was direct and to the point but she held no punches!
She is remembered for all the heart she shared with her love of cats! All animals shared a warm spot in her heart as well.
She truly loved each of them and if you knew her, you knew it.
Her life patner and love was Michael Nastasiak, he supported her with all her animal rescues and he was a great support for her in all she did! He was with her in all lifes ups and downs and held her hand to the end. He will always love her and miss her but knows she is a Special Angel in Heaven. She will be missed dearly.
Penny’s desire was to help others always and had arranged her body be donated to the Florida Anatomical Gift Program to help save the lives of others!
A Celebration of Life will be determined in a future date but in the meantime, Penny would want us to save, adopt or foster a cat! That would be Puuuurfect!

I had the privilege of working with Penny at UDL Laboratories in Largo in the 1990’s and and thankful to have continued that friendship after I left there. Michael, we never met, nor did Joni or Vance, but I am so sorry for your loss. Penny was a special person.
