February 04, 1950~March 22, 2024

Kenneth Kirby Haskins “Clem”, 74, passed away on March 22, 2024 at Marliere Hospice House, New Port Richey, Florida due to liver cancer.

Ken was born in Washington, DC to George S. and Margaret R. (Duvall) Haskins on February 4, 1950. He loved playing sports in his youth and was a stellar quarterback for Bladensburg High School. Riverdale, Maryland was where he and his friends enjoyed exploring and causing all kinds of mischief.
Ken enlisted in the US Army in 1968 and was deployed to South Korea. He was not deployed to Vietnam because his sister Margaret “Peggy” and brother Donald “Donny” were already stationed there. Ken was sent to the DMZ at Camp Red Cloud. Ultimately he became a victim to cancer due to Agent Orange exposure.
In 1973, Ken married the love of his life, Mary Thompson, and they shared in love and laughter for over 51 years.
Ken was a valued employee of Volkswagen of America in Lantham, Maryland. He was a tractor trailer driver for over 20 years.
Everyone who ever met Ken loved him. His joy in storytelling, making jokes, and being the life of the party was what made him the incredible human that he was. His love of playing golf earned him some of his best friends.
Ken would tell us to say in his obituary that he passed away in Key West, Florida since this was his favorite place to visit and find peace.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, George S. and Margaret R. (Duvall) Haskins; siblings George F. Haskins, Margaret (Rose) Haskins, Elizabeth Haskins, and Rebecca Vitale.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Thompson) Haskins. Two children, Natalie (Steven) Trull and Kevin (Jessica) Haskins. Four grandchildren, Rachel and Donovan Trull and Kennedy and Jaxson Haskins. Also, his many numerous nieces and nephews from both sides of the Haskins and Thompson families.

Just found out about your passing. I will always have fond memories about you, the streets of Riverdale, playing flag football at Wirt and later at Bladensburg. May you rest in peace my Brother until we meet again.
