Lonnie Robinson, age 77, of Tarpon Springs, FL, passed away on April 10, 2024. He was born on June 30, 1946, in Portsmouth, OH.
Lonnie Robinson was a man who loved life to the fullest. He embraced adventure, traveling, and cherished his family and friends. Lonnie dedicated much of his life to volunteering with the Jaycees and various organizations. He was an esteemed member of the Florida JCI Senate and held the position of Regional Director of Region 8 at the time of his passing.
One of Lonnie’s greatest joys was co-founding Wheelchairs 4 Kids alongside his beloved wife, Madeline. His passion for helping children was evident in his involvement with the organization, where he took immense pleasure in witnessing the impact of providing children with new wheelchairs and other equipment. Lonnie’s ability to connect with children, coupled with his warm smile and sense of humor, made him a beloved figure at all Wheelchairs 4 Kids events.
In addition to his charitable endeavors, Lonnie was an avid supporter of the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also cherished his role as a proud dog dad to Wheeler.
Lonnie Robinson is survived by his loving wife, Madeline Robinson, his daughter Sarah Ford, and his granddaughter Kayla Ford.
A service to honor and remember Lonnie’s life will be held on April 20, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at Grace Community Church, located at 2255 Nebraska Ave, Palm Harbor, FL 34683. Doors will open at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Lonnie can be made to Wheelchairs 4 Kids, a cause that was close to his heart. Donations can be sent to Wheelchairs 4 Kids at 1200 S. Pinellas Ave., Suite 3, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689, or online at www.Wheelchairs4kids.org.
May Lonnie Robinson’s legacy of kindness and dedication to helping others continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. He believed that Service to Humanity is the best work of life.

So thankful for everything he did for the Wheelchairs for Kids children! My brother Dillon Friddle was one of many that he got to do for! We loved him and his wife Madeline as part of the family and are so heartbroken. He will always be remembered for his smile and his jokes! Always had a great time when he was around! I know my brother welcomed into heaven with open arms and now they can laugh together for eternity.

I will certainly miss Lonnie. He had the warmest smile when we would see each other. I believe his volunteer work really warmed his own heart along with the heart of those he helped.

Lonnie was part of my family for 36 years. He was my friend, sometime husband, mentor, best man at my wedding and uncle to my children. But his greatest role in my life was that of my best friend’s husband. Lonnie and Madeline have one of the greatest love stories. They were committed to each other. He was the Yin to her Yang. They were supportive of each other in a way that few marriages have. Lonnie was truly one of the good guys, a rare breed of man and he will be so missed. Before he passed, we got to talk alone and I promised him I would be here for Madeline. He was so thankful and it was an honor to give this great man my promise. I love you Lonnie…until we meet again…

“Once in your life, if you are lucky….” someone becomes a member of your family. Lonnie was that person to our family. He was the love not only of my sister, Madeline’s life but to our mother,Mary Barry, as well. The love they had for each other; the easy way Lonnie opened his home to allow our Mum to live with them when she was in Florida, will hold a special place in our hearts forever . Lonnie love for our family didn’t end there though. His acceptance, thoughtfulness and generosity he showered Andy and my son, Ansley, earned him the well-deserved”Best Uncle in the World” status. God shares”the good ones” with us for a short time before He calls them back to His Heavenly home. We, the survivors, are often left thinking, “Your wings were ready but our hearts were not.” Guard us now, Lonnie, as you watch over us. You have earned your wings. Rest in the loving arms of the other angels who have gone before you.
