Maria Kolimbiris
August 10, 1933~ May 21, 2024
Maria Kolimbiris, 90, of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024. Maria was born in Greece on August 10, 1933, to John and Kalomira Villiotis. On November 1, 1965, she married her husband, George Kolimbiris. In March of 1967, they welcomed their first (and only) child, John, and in November of 1968, the family immigrated to Brick, New Jersey where they later became U.S. citizens. Maria was a member at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, Toms River, NJ where she sang in the choir alongside her husband and two sisters for many years. In 2002, Maria and George moved to Port Richey, FL and became members at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, New Port Richey, FL. Maria was a beautiful and dedicated wife, loving mother, and nurturing grandmother.
Above all, Maria was a woman of faith. She always tried to learn more and to teach those around her about the Greek Orthodox faith and traditions. She also prioritized service to those less fortunate, helping in any way possible.
In 1997, their son John married his wife Diki, and they welcomed twins (Maria & George) in 2005 and another daughter (Faith) in 2006. Maria’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who affectionately called her Yiayia. She always made sure everyone felt her love. We will hold tight to the countless memories of our frequent family visits, and she will forever be loved and missed.
Maria is pre-deceased by her parents, her sister Barbara Kannell (Leo), her brother Vangelis Villiotis, and her sister Fotini Korahais (George). She is survived by her husband George, her son John Kolimbiris (Diki), her grandchildren Maria, George and Faith, her brother Jimmy Villiotis (Gail), her sister Cleopatra Papakonstantinou (George) and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Visitation is on Wednesday, May 29th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 9426 Little Rd., New Port Richey, FL 34654. Burial at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Dr., Trinity, FL 34655. There will be a gathering for food and drinks with family and friends. Details will be provided at the end of the funeral.
