Leah Elizabeth Whisman (née Morris), aged 92, passed away on July 19, 2024, in Hudson, Florida. Born on June 9, 1932, in Springfield, Ohio, Leah led a vibrant and multifaceted life.

Her career was as diverse as it was successful. Leah began her working life in hospitality and retail, serving as a waitress and grocery store cashier before making significant strides in real estate. Not only was she

a real estate agent and broker, but she also made history as the first woman president of the Springfield, Ohio Board of Realtors. Leah’s work extended to sales with Olan Mills church directories and concluded with her role as a receptionist at Colony Cove in Ellenton.

Leah attended Hudson First United Methodist Church in Hudson, Florida.

Her hobbies were a reflection of her lively spirit and energy. Leah loved dancing, playing cards, visiting casinos, and was passionate about decorating her living spaces. She enjoyed hunting for treasures at garage sales and thrift stores and always made sure her nails were impeccably done.

Leah is lovingly remembered by her children, Carolyn Haase (John), Melissa Whisman, Don Whisman (Kim), and Roger Whisman. She also leaves behind a cherished niece, Lisa Summers, five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. Leah was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Gene Whisman, and two grandchildren, Jodie Whisman and Jeremiah Ilges.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 1 pm, at Vitality Living, 13707 Dallas Drive, Hudson, Florida. The arrangements are being handled by Thomas B. Dobies Funeral Home, Hudson, Florida.

Leah’s joyous approach to life and her remarkable contributions to her community and family will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
