Gary Swen Anderson, 85, passed away on August 11, 2024.  Gary was born and raised in Sioux City, IA. After graduating from Augustana College, he continued his education at Iowa State and at the University of Alaska.  He spent his career as a Hydrologist in Alaska, later serving as the Chief Hydrologist for the USGS in Richmond, VA.  After retirement, Gary and family retired to New Port Richey, FL. Gary was very active throughout life including memberships in the VA Anglers, GHYC, IGFA, CCA, Fish On, and Explorers Club among others.  Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Swen Anderson, and his son, Gregory Swen Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy, and granddaughter Amelia as well as two sisters, Lisa (Dennis), and Linnea (Steven) and niece Holly. Gary was loved by many additional family members and friends.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite animal shelter.
