David Thomas Woerner Sr. “Dave” went home to be with his Lord on October 4th, 2024 at 5:04 pm. He died peacefully with his family at his side. He died at HCA FL Trinity Hospital. He was born on June 6th, 1955, and was 69 years old. He was the 6th child of Walter and Marianna (Schryver) Woerner. He was lovingly raised by his stepfather John J. Collins. He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey. David married his high school sweetheart Deborah (Ross) Woerner on May 20th, 1978, and together had two children. David was a devoted and nurturing husband. He was also a very loving and involved Daddy to, not only his two children, but his two daughters-in-law as well. He was lovingly known as “Big Daddy”.

David raised his family in Pleasantville, New Jersey, then moved to New Port Richey, Florida, in 1987. In 2010, David retired to Lake Conley in Holiday, Florida, after working 25 years with the Teamsters. David had served as president of the Social Club Board. He enjoyed his community to the fullest. His favorite activity was playing games at the clubhouse. David was a proud and loving PopPop to his eight grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

David knew no strangers and was a friend to all. He loved to ride his scooter around his neighborhood to see his friends and give treats to their dogs.

David worked for Stroehmann Bakeries for five years and in 1987 worked for I.B.C. Wonder Bread in Florida for the Teamsters. David was known as the “Breadman.” He had an amazing work ethic, was a hard worker, and a faithful employee. He always worked for what he had. He never let anything stop him from his goals. David had his own paper route at the age of thirteen. He continued to work at a luncheonette and paid his own tuition at Holy Spirit High School where he met his wife of forty-six years. He was a member of Christian Church of Holiday, Florida and has served as Deacon over the years. David took part in his church to feed the needy.

David was preceded in death by his son David Woerner Jr.; mother Marianna Collins; father Walter Woerner; stepfather John Collins; father-in-law James Bishop; son-in-law David Lombardi; brother Joseph Woerner; and sister Catherine Branca. He is survived by his wife Deborah Woerner; daughter Jacqueline (Jessica) Lombardi; mother-in-law Jacqueline Bishop; daughter-in-law Christine (Bryan) Hobson; brother-in-law’s John (Roseann) Ross and Kenneth (Michelle) Bishop; siblings Mary (Paul) Gardener, Walter (Marian) Woerner, Ruth Stitler, James (Pamela) Woerner, Theresa (Bob) Senese, John (Susan) Collins, and Michael (Jane) Collins. He is also survived by grandchildren David, James, John, Kennedy, Case, Noah, Kayden, and Keira; as well as many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many good friends.

A memorial church service will be held Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at 12:00 pm, at Christian Church of Holiday, 5724 SR-54 E, New Port Richey, Florida, 34652. A service will be held by Pastor Richard Hubbard. Following will be a luncheon at Lake Conley Clubhouse, 2020 Kahala Drive, Holiday, FL 34691.

My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Dave was an awesome person and I know how dedicated you two were to each other. May you find comfort in knowing he is in a better place now and has joined his beloved son. Rest assured you two will meet again.

Dave was one of the very first to welcome myself and husband Fred to Lake Conley. Fred enjoyed talking and playing Euchre with Dave until he passed over 5 years now. My heart goes out to the entire family
