June 26, 1943~August 09, 2024

DiNovo, August (Gus) P. It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of August (Gus) P. DiNovo, 81, on August 9, 2024. Gus leaves behind a legacy of hard work, and everlasting love for family and music. Born in Albany N.Y., to the late Claire (Schweitzer) DiNovo and Frank DiNovo.

Raised in Albany, NY Gus was a graduate of Albany High School. After high school, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Decorations were: Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14). The dedication served as a foundation for his work ethic and commitment to family and friends.  He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #1520 and Polish Community Center. He retired from the Union of Painter with more than 30 years of service.  In 2006, he moved to Trinity, Florida to be closer to his son and to embark on the next chapter of his life.

His biggest joy came from being a proud father and grandfather. He cherished the moments spent with his son, Peter, Peter’s wife Tina and his grandchildren, Peter, Mariah and Selena. They truly were the lights of his life. The endless family gathers, cruise vacations, football and basketball games. He embraced every opportunity to share their achievements with anyone that would listen. His life would not have been complete without the daily trips to DiNovo Golf Carts with coffees in hand and food for everyone. Affectionately, known as “Gramps” to the employees and customers and although not officially on the payroll, “Gramps” was the most valued employee. Showed up every day, ready to help in any way he could, especially with a ladder and paintbrush, eager to tackle the next project.

In his free time, Gus was an avid record collector, a pastime that allowed him to enjoy the melodies that warm your heart and bring fond memories of your past. We will now all share in his love for music as we keep his memory alive.

Gus leaves behind his beloved son, Peter DiNovo; daughter-in-law, Tina DiNovo; and three grandchildren, Peter DiNovo Jr. (Avarie), Mariah DiNovo Raynor, (Dayne) and Selena DiNovo; as well as his sister, Betty Wronoski; his three nephews, Thomas, Kevin and Christopher; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and grand fur babies Risotto, Mosie and Cal.

Let us remember him for his commitment and pride in his family and friends, his love for music, tireless work ethic, genuine kindness and everlasting love for his grandchildren.

A memorial Mass and Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 PM., Friday, October 18, 2024, at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery

Although I only knew Gus for about five years, he was like a brother to me. Anytime I needed help. He was the one to help me.
He loved his family very much and would do anything they needed at any time. He is already missed around the shop rest easy, buddy. We got it from here.
