It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Hubert Wayne O’Brien, who passed away peacefully at the age of 77. Born in Altha, Florida, on May 30, 1947, Wayne was the beloved son of Albert and Daisy O’Brien. In the 1950s, his family relocated to Winter Haven, Florida, where Wayne would go on to attend Auburndale High School. He was known for his leadership and dedication, serving as secretary of the Polk County Federation of Future Farmers of America during his time there.
Wayne’s service to his country began in 1965 when he joined the Army Reserves, and he proudly served in this capacity for several years. After graduating with an Associate’s degree in Business from Polk Community College, he launched a successful career with State Farm Insurance, opening his own agency in New Port Richey in 1979. Over the next 45 years, Wayne built a respected and thriving business, always putting his clients first and leaving a lasting impact on the community.
Wayne was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his brother Frank, loving wife Natalia; his children Randy, Fawn, Shana, Star and Bren; as well as four cherished grandchildren.
In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed fishing, spending time in nature, and most of all, drag racing. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, generosity, and his unwavering love for his family.
A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will be held at Dobie’s funeral home at 8825 Old County Road 54 in New Port Richey, Florida on Saturday November 9th at 10am.
He will be greatly missed.
