Duane Lee Van Etten Sr., 84, passed away Monday, December 16th, 2024, at his home in New Port Richey, Florida. He was born in Blossburg, Pennsylvania, to Doris (Hayward) and Warren Van Etten Sr.
Duane was an avid golfer and began his career at Corey Creek Golf Club in Mansfield, Pennsylvania. He started as a caddy, worked his way up to the crew, and finally superintendent. From there, he went to Endwell Greens Country Club in New York where he helped build and maintain the golf course. In 1979, he relocated to Etters, Pennsylvania, where he was the superintendent of the Valley Green Golf Course. He was a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America for forty-four years as well as a member of the Central Pennsylvania Golf Course Superintendents Association for over thirty years.
Duane enjoyed watching his sons play sports and watching NASCAR races on the weekend. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Patricia (Pat) and is survived by his four sons Duane Jr. (Barb), Roger (Kay), Jeff (Denise), and Jim (Heather); eight grandchildren; as well as five great-grandchildren. A private ceremony will be held at the family’s request. Please remember Duane Sr. in your thoughts and prayers.
