On Sunday, December 22, 2024 Carolyn Moore Olson peacefully left this Earth. Carolyn was born on 6/7/1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to Cyril and Wildred Moore and raised in Sarasota, Florida. She began attending Florida State University in 1968. While attending Florida State she met her future husband, David Edward Olson. David and Carolyn were married in 1970 and remained married until her passing. They joined the larger New Port Richey community shortly after marriage and raised two wonderful children, Chadwick and Meredith.
Carolyn dedicated her professional life to helping the vulnerable populations of the Tampa Bay Region as a social worker for over 37 years with child and adult protective services. She was a true and tireless champion who always gave her all to the needy, abused, and neglected. Carolyn loved to travel, read, play mahjong, work with various canine rescue organizations, and was an active member within her church community.
She is survived by her husband, David, and children, Chadwick and Meredith. She is much beloved and already greatly missed by both family and friends.
Flowers can be sent to Hope United Methodist Church or donations may be made to your local food pantry or local canine rescue in Carolyn’s name. A memorial service, followed by a reception, will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Hope United Methodist Church located at 2200 Little Road, Trinity, Florida 34655.

Carolyn was my Supervisor at C&F , never met a better , caring person or Boss . Whenever I think of her , I always remember her saying ” JUST DO IT ! “, when we got some less than popular directive from District Office … and the only time she ever complained to me , it was about all the ” dead time ” she wasted away from her job , while driving back – and – forth on 19 from our office to St . Pete District Office for meetings …. several times a week .
To David , Meredith and Chad … Warmest regards ! You are in our prayers . The world needs more ” CAROLYN OLSONS ” , she is what GOD wants us to be … she was so proud of you .

I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Carolyn. I remember with great fondness a visit when we were children, many years ago, with Carolyn, her mom, my Aunt Wildred, and her dad, my Uncle Moore, in their home in Sarasota. What a wonderful time we had! We re-connected a few years ago by way of Facebook…and Christmas cards. I am thankful to have had that time with Carolyn. My deepest condolences to Dave, Chad, and Meredith. Sincerely, Rosemarie Stallworth-Clark

I will miss Carolyn. We met her at church and saw how kind she was. We also talked to each other at the YMCA pool, as well as Sunday School. I wish that there was more time. We did correspond for awhile after we moved and I still read the Hope church web site which is how I learned of her death. Life is just too short on this earth. Thankfully there is Heaven.
