July 21, 1941~December 06, 2024

Elliot Carter Roskow, 83, of Hudson, Florida, passed away December 6th, 2024 at Tarpon Bayou Skilled Nursing Center of Tarpon Springs, Florida, where he was in late stage Frontotemporal degeneration. He was a patriot who loved his country, a proud Vietnam Era Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a Camp LeJeune survivor.

Elliot was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Felix and Edna Dietrich Roskow. He attended St. Peter’s Choir School as a young boy and graduated from Philadelphia’s Central High School. After serving 6 years in the USMC and extensive military and college studies in electrical engineering, Elliot enjoyed a long career in the cable television industry. At the age of 49 he fulfilled a lifelong dream of retiring to Florida where he established a professional picture framing business with his wife, Kathryn.

Elliot, affectionately known as Carter, Grampa, Uncle “Elwat” and sometimes “Smelliot”, was a world traveler who vowed to visit all fifty states, and as many far flung countries as possible. He collected friends from places like Australia, Morocco and Singapore, and rocks from all his travels, including one he snitched from a crevice of the Coliseum in Rome. He was an avid sailor and loved being on  the water in any kind of boat, particularly when accompanied by his best Florida friend Gary Devecchia. Elliot will be missed by family and friends who loved his spirit of adventure, the jokes he loved to play, his beautiful singing voice and the sweet smile he never lost through the many years of struggling to rise above the diagnosis of FTD.

Elliot was preceded in death by brothers Edward Redmond and Felix Roskow; and two much loved furbabies Rudy and Scotty.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathryn Morrow Roskow; sisters Marie Roskow Atmore and Elaine Roskow; sister-in-law Margot (Jim) Kline, son Jay Tadlock; daughter Shannon Tadlock; grandson Tyson Pooler; granddaughters Robyn Norris, Taylor Tadlock and Dayle Pooler; great granddaughters Livesay and Emryn Conrad as well as several generations of nieces and nephews.

Elliot also leaves sons Elliot and Brian Roskow; daughters Sandra (Daryl) Rosidavito and Lisa Gasdorf; grandsons Jordan Roskow and Nick Rosidavito and granddaughters Lauren Estes and Jessica Roskow.

Following cremation, Elliot’s ashes will be interred at the National Cemetery of Knoxville, Tennessee, followed by a Celebration of Life. Details will be shared as soon as they are available.
