Nickoletta Saros, 94, of Palm Harbor, Florida, passed away on January 21st, 2025.
Nickoletta is the daughter of Spiros and Katina Panagiotopoulos and grew up in the small village of Porovitsa, in the regional unit of Achaia, Greece. She survived the German occupation and when the war was over, at the age of 15, she immigrated with her family to the United States settling in Marion, Illinois. She moved to Detroit, Michigan where she married George Saros. For many years, she served as a secretary of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Nickoletta was active in Philoptochos and a member of the Daughters of Penelope. After her first husband George passed away, she worked many years as a personal bookkeeper for the Fisher Family of Fisher Body, a division of General Motors. In 1984, she married Donald Kovalcik and after they both retired, they settled in Palm Harbor, Florida. She became a member of St. Nicholas Church in Tarpon Springs and was active in Philoptochos.
Nickoletta is predeceased by her husband Donald Kovalcik, her sister Maria (Christos) Tsamberis. She is survived by her niece Costadina Tsamberis; nephew John (Donna) Tsamberis; as well as other loving family members.
