Barbara B. Underhill

Barbara B. Underhill

January 27, 1933~April 10, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara Beatrice Underhill, who left this world surrounded by love and family. She was truly the heart of the family, a woman whose warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love touched all who knew her.

Known affectionately by many names—Barbara, Mom, Grandma, and “Honeygrams”—she answered to each one with a smile, open arms, and a heart full of love. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of home that will be deeply missed.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Barbara carried the vibrant spirit of the city with her throughout her life. She moved to Saint Petersburg, Florida, with her parents and sister, Elizabeth, who played a pivotal role in introducing her to Carl—the love of her life. From that moment, Barbara never looked back. Together, they built a life filled with devotion, joy, and unconditional love. Their remarkable love story spanned more than 60 years of marriage, a testament to their commitment, strength, and the deep bond they shared until his passing in 2013.

Barbara was a devoted mother to her five children: Victoria, Carl Lee, Lance, Bobby, and Marie. A cherished grandmother to 16 grandchildren, a guiding light to 16 great-grandchildren, and a proud great-great-grandmother to four little ones who are all a part of her growing legacy. She also leaves behind her beloved little sister, Liz, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories.

She was more than a matriarch—she was a storyteller, a source of comfort, a well of wisdom. Whether through a warm meal at the table, a comforting word, or a moment of laughter, she gave so much of herself to those lucky enough to know her. She played the drums, among many talents, and was an inspiration to all. She told wonderful stories about her and Grandpa, her years in New York and Pennsylvania, and kept her wit to the very end.

Her strength, kindness, and grace will never be forgotten. Though we mourn her passing, we celebrate the beautiful, full life she lived in her 92 years, and the incredible family she built.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and deep-rooted family ties that will continue to grow for generations to come. We are happy knowing she is reunited with our dad, together again in peace and love.

Rest peacefully, Barbara—our Mom, our Grandma, our Honeygrams. You were born in a blizzard and died in the spring. You were deeply loved, and you will be dearly missed. Forever in our hearts until we meet again in eternity.

Marie, I loved your mom. She was so sweet, always had a smile (a lot like you!) and just a ray of light. I’m so saddened for your loss, but happy she is in heaven with Jesus experiencing the joys and rewards she deserves. Thinking of you and your girls!

To the Underhill family, I don’t have the words to describe how sad I am to hear of your mom’s passing… There is nothing I can say that will help ease your pain and sadness at this moment. All I can say is that your mom was such a wonderful person and mother. Always so cheerful and always had a beautiful smile on her face. Know that she will be missed by everyone that knew her…
