In Loving Memory of Jerry Sam Korn
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Sam Korn, age 78, of Hudson, FL—formerly of Connecticut—on August 19, 2025. He passed peacefully at home.
Born on November 21, 1946, in Shanghai, China. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Elias and Cacilie Korn, both survivors of the Holocaust. Their strength and resilience deeply influenced his life. He was one of the last surviving children of the Jewish Shanghai ghetto along with his sister Marion Silberstein.
Jerry received his bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University. He served in the Army and reserves. His professional career was as a salesman for the phone company, retiring in 2012. However, his true lifelong passion was soccer. A dedicated referee for over 30 years in both Connecticut and Florida, Jerry’s love for the game extended beyond the field—he was also an instructor, mentoring countless aspiring referees.
Above all, Jerry loved being a father and could often be found cheering from the sidelines at his children’s soccer games and at the ice rink. He was also a lover of books, games, and music, especially enjoying singing along to his favorite tunes in the car. He once challenged his children to sing along to Jimmy Buffet to decide who he would take to a concert.
Jerry shared a special bond with animals, and his family finds comfort knowing he’s crossed the Rainbow Bridge, reunited with the many beloved pets who brought joy to his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ryann Warhaftig-Korn. He was previously married to Leisa and they have three cherished children: Amy Korn, Megan (David) Rodriguez, and Seth (Marissa) Korn. Additionally, he is survived by his daughter Michelle (Ed) Beauchemin. Jerry was a proud and adoring grandfather to Brianna, Jake, Cooper, Abigail, Dani, and Marley. He is also survived by his sister, Marion Silberstein and niece and nephew, Fay (Frank) Vaughn and Barry (Kris) Silberstein.
The arrangements for services are being made in Connecticut at a future date. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Ryann so sorry to hear of Jerry passing. Although in recent years I haven’t seen him often, I still remember things as a little girl when we lived in the same household. I used to watch the Ed Sullivan show sitting on his back on the floor. We used to enjoy frozen strawberries that they used to have in little containers in the frozen section of the grocery story. He used to share it with me.
When he went away to college, I got his old room. I used to go visit his girl friends when he was away. Strange how you remember certain things as a child.
He was my dodeo, a name that I called him as a child.
May he rest in peace. He was loved by many.

My dad was so loved. I adored him, as did Jake. He adored Jake so much. He and Ryann took care of Jake when he was a little kid, and I am so grateful to them for that. Jake was with them pretty much every weekend. Jake loved watching soccer with his Pop Pop. To this day, its Jake’s favorite sport to watch. They also shared a love of history. It’s due to that love – Jake is seeking to be a history teacher for grades 6-Univ (16).
My favorite memories of my times with him were of listening to Gordon Lightfoot in the car on the way to his house on the weekends I spent with him, which I looked so forward to. We loved singing “If You Could Read My Mind Love” and especially “Sundown”. To this day, I have both songs on my playlist so when they play, I remember those cherished times with him.
On those weekends we spent together, we would watch wrestling – Andre the Giant was a favorite of ours – while I would sit on his back eating frozen strawberries with him. Those times are my most treasured of my memories of him. The times we shared together will forever live in my heart and memory.
May you be at peace dad knowing so many of us loved and cared for/about you.
