Ed Cuthbert was born and grew up in Cochrane, Ontario. He graduated high school at 17 years of age and was accepted into the Royal Canadian Air Force where he trained and became a pilot. He served his country during the Cold War as a “Captain” flying over the seacoasts keeping watch for enemy submarines. From the service, Ed went to work for Air Canada where, during his career, he traveled the world flying both cargo and passenger planes. One of his favorite past times was swapping “Fly-Boy” stories with fellow pilots!
Ed will also be remembered for his unending love for the game of golf, his remarkable knowledge of history, and his engaging passion for politics.
Ed passed away peacefully at his home in New Port Richey, Florida at the age of 82.
He was preceded in death by his loving first wife, Beverly (nee McCharles), his son Eric and his brothers James and Ronald Cuthbert.
He was survived by his second wife, Tracey (nee Keller) Arand-Cuthbert; sister Lynne Cuthbert, brother-in-law David Mcdougall; daughter Wendy Cuthbert and granddaughter Rhiannon, her father Sean O’Malley; grandchildren Nicole, Christopher, Paige and Taylor Cuthbert, and their mother Shirley Cuthbert.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 2nd from 2-4 pm at Timber Greens Country Club, New Port Richey, FL.
A Canadian service to celebrate Ed’s life will take place at the Barrie Union Cemetery in Barrie, Ontario on a date to be determined by family.

I Remember Ed from my very first Montreal AC 1966 course many years ago.
A lively – good humoured course member, and we shared a number of
“Tales” and good stories.
My condolences to Ed, his family, and I’m sure – many friends.
May he rest in peace.
Regards
Bent Pedersen

I remember Ed very well. He was a very good man and an excellent pilot. We were only separated by two years, he being the elder. We fly many missions on the DC-8 when he was First Officer and I sitting on the back seat. Then we were on the DC-9.
God bless him.

I had the pleasure of flyng with Ed on the Viscount when he first joined Air Canada. He was a great pilot and always had a smile and a joke to brighten those damp dreary days in the Maritimes. My condolences to Tracy and the rest of the family.

Ed, you and I put on a lot of miles together. We went back to 1961 in the RCAF.
You were a good man to have in your corner and I’ll miss you.
Have a smooth ride and fair winds as you fly west old friend.
