Charles “Chuck” Schurecht, 78, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on October 16, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after complications from surgery. He was a loving Husband, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather, Uncle, Brother-in-law and Friend.
Chuck retired from GTE in 1998, as an Equipment Technician in the Carrier Maintenance Group. He was a proud Viet Nam Veteran in the USAF. He was a Crew Chief on the B 52’s.
Chuck loved to fish. He was an accomplished mechanic, handyman, and could conquer anything that needed to be done. He could be found on any day by the pool, working on his many projects.
Together, he and his wife, loved to travel in their RV. They belonged to 2 Camping Clubs, Suncast Winnie Gators and Roamin’ Rigs, where he met and had many friends. Chuck never met a stranger. He had many friends including his best friend Ted Collins and much loved friends, Sissy & Jerry Kellar that he and his wife traveled with on their annual escapades.
He loved to bowl and was on the GTE bowling league and was a pitcher for the GTE Softball League for many years. He loved the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.
He is survived by Karen, his loving wife of 41 years. He is also survived by his much-loved Daughter-in-Law, Cheryl Schurecht, Grandchildren Ashlee, Chaz, and Amanda Schurecht, and Dakota Wilson (grandson-in-law). He is also survived by his Son-in-law, John Baron, grandchildren Brittany and Carrie Baron. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Daisy and Lily Baron, and Warren Wilson. He also is survived by 3 Nieces, Peggy McGuire and her sons Landon, Gage, and Gavin. Nancy Fish and her son Cameron. His Niece, Kimberly Kurey, who was his partner in crime, as well as her Daughter, Maggie Kurey, and her Son Chase. They did many crazy projects together and he was teaching them the tricks of all trades. 1 Nephew, Sean (Brenda) Jewell. He left behind his Brother-in-law, Frank (Kathy) Jewell, Sister-in-law, Valerie Gurney.
His Farewell Service will be at the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, 2860 Sunset Pt. Road, Clearwater FL 33759 on October 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM. The Service will be held graveside followed by a small Reception.

So sorry for your loss. I remember fondly the fun times we had in the camping club. May you have strength and comfort from family and friends in the days to come.

Karen, I just saw this. I am so very sorry. Having just gone through this myself, a year ago, I know some of what you are going through and would be happy to have you call me when you need a shoulder.
