Merle F. Amic, 96, of Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Merle was born on April 20, 1929, in McDonald, Pennsylvania, to Charles and Maria Daye Amic. After graduating from McDonald High School in 1947, he went on to earn a degree in accounting from Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.
On September 20, 1952, Merle married the love of his life, Dolores Mike, at the United Methodist Church in McDonald, Pennsylvania—a church that remained close to his heart throughout his life. Together, they built a beautiful marriage that lasted 73 years, filled with love, laughter, music, and adventure.
Merle was a man of many talents and passions. He was a Past Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge in McDonald, a lifelong member of both the church and the McDonald Fire Department, and a musician who loved playing the drums with local bands. After retiring from his position as Treasurer at Shenango Inc. in Pittsburgh, Merle and Dolores began a new chapter in Florida, where they owned and operated two recreational vehicle parks. They shared a love for traveling, exploring the world together, and taking countless cruises.
But no matter where life took him, Merle’s heart always belonged to his family. He cherished time spent with them—whether it was dancing with Dolores to Big Band music, enjoying family vacations, or simply being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Merle was a compassionate, joyful, extraordinary man who lived life to the fullest. His warmth, humor, and devotion to family and friends will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Merle is survived by his devoted Sweetheart, Dolores; his children, Linda (Richard) Kerosky of Safety Harbor, Florida, Patricia Wheaton of Palm Harbor, Florida, and Robert (Carrie) Amic of McDonald, Pennsylvania; his grandchildren, Michelle Kerosky Clark, Lisa Kerosky, Michael Kerosky and Marshall Wheaton, all of Florida; Melissa (Matthew) Gray, Robert Amic Jr., and Brian Amic, all of Pennsylvania; and Stephen (Mackenzie) Amic of Ohio. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Brett, Ty, and Blake Gray, Diegan, Lucianne, Ryker, and Charlotte Amic of Pennsylvania, Emrie and Brynlee Amic of Ohio; his sister-in-law, Donna Mike Bish of Midway, Pennsylvania; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Maria Amic, and his brother, Charles Amic Jr.
Merle will be remembered for his big heart, his humor, his love of music, and the way he made everyone feel special. He truly lived life to the fullest and left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and family that will continue to live on in all who knew him.
Forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.

We are so deeply saddened to hear of Uncle Merles passing. I have so many wonderful memories from my childhood days when all of you lived in McDonald. Used to stop in and see Uncle Merle at his office in the library just to say hello. Sandy and I had the privilege of spending a day with Uncle Merle and Aunt Dolores early last year. Felt like a lifetime of memories packed in 8 hours.
Prayers to Aunt Dolores, Linda, Patty, Bob and all of the families for healing during this sad time while remembering the life and memories of a great man who left a legacy for everyone to remember.
RIP Uncle Merle.
