January 01, 1932~December 07, 2025

William John Boyd, Jr. (Bill) passed away on December 7, 2025, just weeks shy of his 94th birthday.   Bill was born in Pittsburgh, PA,  (Jan 1, 1932) and grew up attending Catholic school.  He graduated from Slippery Rock State Teacher’s College in 1954 with a degree in Elementary Education.

Bill proudly served in the Army Counter Intelligence Corps (1954 – 1956) in Germany and married his wife of 49 years (Dolores Mary Heinrich) in Munich.  He and his wife adopted a daughter, Mary Kathleen while living in South Carolina.

Bill worked as a regional manager for various restaurants during the 60’s and 70’s in Arkansas/Georgia such as Burger King and Long John Silver’s, and was also a co-owner of two Waffle Houses.   In the late 70’s he came to Florida and started a pressure cleaning business, which operated for 40 years until he retired at the young age of 90.

Bill loved birds. He joined many internet birding groups, took lots of photos and videos especially of the ones he fed daily. He would sit on his daughter’s back deck for hours with his binoculars just watching shore birds, migrating birds, and dolphins.

He was a faithful servant for more than 38 years at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Lutz, FL as a daily morning alter server/ weekend usher,  and was part of an amazing faith community with people that he loved.  He will be missed dearly, but he is at peace with his Loving God and finally reunited with his wife “Dee” and other loved ones that preceded him in death.  He is survived by his daughter Mary Kathleen Costenbader (Randy), and nephew Richard Olson (Janet).

Bill’s memorial mass will be on January 27, 2026 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church; 2348 Collier Parkway; Land O’Lakes FL, 34639. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Bill may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or March of Dimes.  Please feel free to celebrate Bill’s long and well-lived life by wearing brightly colored clothing if you wish.
