Jacquelyn “Jacquie” Currey, born November 11, 1941, passed away on January 10, 2026.
Originally from Buffalo, NY, Jacquie grew up in Tonawanda, NY, and made New Port Richey, FL her home beginning in 1974. She devoted 44 years to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher, a career marked by patience, dedication, and a genuine love for children.
Jacquie lived a life rich with creativity, curiosity, and connection. She was an avid quilter and a proud volunteer with the West Pasco Quilters’ Guild, sharing her talent to bring comfort and beauty to others. She loved traveling with family and friends, collecting memories and stories along the way. At home, she found joy in gardening, especially in tending to her roses, which she nurtured with the same care she gave to the people in her life.
Jacquie was devoted to her grandchildren, whom she lived for and loved dearly. They were her greatest joy and the center of her world.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Currey, Sr., who passed in 2007.
Jacquie is survived by her son, Richard “Dick” Currey and his wife Leah, and their children Reagan, Charis, and Caleb; and by her daughter, Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Kupczyk and her husband Phil, and their children Taryn and Ethan.
A memorial service will be held at Dobies Funeral Home, 6616 Congress St., New Port Richey, FL 34653, on Friday, January 16th, from 5:00–6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Jacquie may be made to the West Pasco Quilters’ Guild (P.O. Box 574, Port Richey, FL 34673) or to Gulfside Hospice (2061 Collier Parkway, Land O’ Lakes, FL 34639).
