Carolyn Stouwie was born on November 4, 1941 in Indianola, IA to Homer and Vera (Baughman) Thompson and died on October 20, 2019 in Spring Hill, FL. She married Cecil Stouwie Jr. on October 9, 1959. They were blessed with four children: Kenneth,Vonda, Barry and Sonja.
Carolyn wasco-owner of C & D Sanitation and Ames Area Recycling Center in Ames, IA. She was also active in Girl Scouts, Soroptimist International and Church activities at the Presbyterian Church in Nevada. After retirement, she became an avid quilter.
She is survived by three of her children: Vonda La Fever, Barry (Jolene) Stouwie and Sonja Chase (Dawn Guthrie). Her descendants: Kenna (Scott) Marple and daughter Laurel, Sayer (Erica) Martin and daughters Leighton and Campbell, Tyler (Kate) Martin and children Tatum and Farren, EllieJo LaFever, Brittany Stouwie and son Vynzent Gibson, Sydney Stouwie, Jonah Stouwie. Carolyn is also survived by a brother and a sister plus numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She was met in Heaven by her parents, her husband, one son Kenneth, two grandsons Barry II and Darren Stouwie.
A celebration of life will be held at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Friday Oct 25 at 1 PM.
Internment at Evergreen Cemetery after the service.
A service will take place at Dobies Funeral Home 6616 Congress St., New Port Richey on Thursday October 31, 2019 3:00 PM
