Born in Frankfort, Kentucky, on June 8th, 1949 and lived his life in Owenton, Kentucky, until 2013 moving to New Port Richey, Florida, until his death on March 11th, 2026.

Don is survived by his wife Sue Ayres of 27 years, his granddaughter Sarah (Stanley), Ayres Patton,  his great-grandchildren Carter, Caelyn, and Cooper Patton and three nephews.  He adored his granddaughter and great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his son Jeff Ayres, his mother Myra Cooper Ayres, his father Atwood Ayres, his brothers David and Johnny Ayres.

He was a farmer and often told stories of tobacco farming. He was a very intelligent carpenter and together with his son they could build anything asked of him. He worked several years delivering home medical equipment and always took pride in his work.

He never met a stranger and he enjoyed making people laugh and smile. He also enjoyed finding unique treasures and antiques.

Don was of the Baptist faith and a member of Faith Baptist Church of New Port Richey, Florida.

He will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.
