Sheldon Rosenfeld age 82, passed away quietly and peacefully on March17, 2026 after a long battle with myelodysplastic syndromes. Born on September 25, 1943, to Isadore Edward Rosenfeld (Eddie) (z”l ) and Jean Tatarsky Rosenfeld (z”l), Sheldon lived a long and meaningful life defined by work that he loved, sports he enjoyed, grandchildren he treasured, and a great pride for his service to our country.
Sheldon grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and attended Washington High School. He was active in the B’nai Brith Youth Organization, which, when he was 17, was where he met Betty Polansky. They both loved to dance and dated but he left for college. With the encouragement of his wonderful stepmother Ann, he earned an associates degree in computer science at Miami-Dade in Florida, but he and Betty lost touch. Thirty-five years later, they would find each other again and marry.
Sheldon was a proud veteran and served here and in Germany during the Vietnam War era. He went on to become a network engineer for AT&T for many years on the East Coast, collecting detailed descriptions of favorite foods and restaurants from each city that he lived in and visited. He and Betty lived in Milwaukee for many years before finally settling in New Port Richey, Florida where he lived for watching Packer games with his son-in-law, taking care of his pool, eating his wife’s incredible cooking, teaching his grandsons about the Rays while wearing his hats, and being an active and important member of his neighborhood community that loved and will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Betty; her children Stephanie (Sean) Darling-Finney, Michael (Hilary) Darling, and Jennifer (Chris) Marini. Grandchildren Talia, Anthony (Hailey), Sam (Sydney), Sophie, Zuzu, Lukas, and special friend Hannah.
