Sylvia Theodosat

March 14, 1940~April 01, 2026

Sylvia Hazel Theodosat, born March 14, 1940 in Westmoreland, Jamaica to Constantine and Phyllis WIlliams passed from our lives on April 1, 2026. In loving remembrance, we honor a matriarch of exceptional grace. She was soft-spoken, poised, and approached life with orderliness and unwavering dedication.

Her educational path led to and included success in the 3rd year Jamaica local exams. She later studied data entry and processing, securing a job with IBM, where she worked for several years before migrating to Toronto, Canada, and then to New York City, New York, United States.

She met and married her wonderful soulmate, Milton Theodosat in New York and later settled in Tampa, Florida in 1975. They celebrated fifty-four years of wedded bliss in December 2025. After dedicating thirty-two years of service to the banking industry, she retired nine years ago from Bank of America.

Sylvia enjoyed reading. Her favorite authors included Helen Steiner Rice (poetry) and Agatha Christie (detective novels). She took joy in singing Christian hymns, letting her faith and spirit shine through songs. She was a woman of deep, sincere faith guided by strong Christian convictions. She led prayer groups in her church, taught Sunday school, and was a faithful member of Riverhills Church of God in Tampa, Florida. She was every pastor’s dream church member, walking in obedience, faithfulness, and generosity. Thus, when the Lord called her home, she was fully ready to meet her Lord and Savior.

Sylvia loved her family dearly and is preceded in death by her parents, Constantine and Phyllis Williams, her brothers Cedric and Kenneth, and one sister, Yvonne.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Milton, children Dr. Christine, Dr. Athena (Paul), Mileta, grandchildren Stephanie, Elani-Hazel, Derrye III, and great-grandchildren Tyree, Mekhi, and Aria, sisters Hyacinth (Tommy) and family, Angella (Michael) and family, Audrey, and Jacqueline (Elijah) and family, and brother Steve and family. Precious nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and her special Uncle Carlos who spent many Thanksgivings with her family.

She will live forever in our hearts.

Audrey
My dear sister Bloss, words cannot express how wonderful you were. You are gone too soon to us left behind but we also know you finished your course here on earth, and went home to your Heavenly Father.
As you rest in eternal peace, your legacy will never be forgotten. You poured into our family, as the guiding light, and the bridge to so many shared memories.
I benefited so much from your love, warm embrace and guidance. This is only a separation until we meet again. I will miss your physical presence but your memories will always be with me… love Audrey
