On April 7, 2026, our beloved Pat—wife, mother, and grandmother—peacefully returned to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior. Born on February 12, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York, Pat was a joyful and charismatic woman whose life was a testament to faith, laughter, and love.
In 1950, Pat received a B.A. in Home Economics from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Pat moved to Palm Harbor, Florida, in 1989, where she worked as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist at Suncoast Hospital for twenty years. She maintained an active social life within the Highland Lakes community. A true competitor with an indomitable spirit, she regularly competed in golf and tennis. She was also a member of the synchronized swimming group, the SynchroBelles. When she wasn’t on the courts or the range, she could routinely be found at the Highland Lakes clubhouse playing Bridge.
Later, she and her husband, Bill, moved to Royal Palms where she quickly became known as “Happy Pat.” There, she continued to be an active and strategic Bridge player. A vibrant and energetic social butterfly, Pat maintained her active social lifestyle until her passing.
She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Cavanaro; her sons, Dean Sarandria (Resa Trent) and Bob Sarandria (Debbie); her stepchildren, Maryanne Mazzilli (Nick), Jean Muldoon (Dan), Bill Cavanaro (Cindy), John Cavanaro (Sandra), and Jim Cavanaro (Nancy); four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; fourteen step-grandchildren; and ten step great-grandchildren.
Pat was a devout Christian and an avid reader. She always had a smile on her face, radiating joy and love wherever she went. Her light and spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Pat was my friend and neighbor in Highland Lakes. Especially enjoyed our trip to Germany, Switzerland and Austria. She always had her delightful smile. And I so admired her Christianity. She can now enjoy her Heavenly Home.

Pat was a very good friend of mine for 20+ years. When she moved to Largo, we had lunch/dinner together a couple of times but kind of lost track at that point. I tried to call periodically but not as often as I should have. Somehow the news came out in Highland Lakes yesterday but I just couldnt believe it. She will be missed terribly. What about Bill? I tried to call last night and the phone was disconnected. Please let me know how he is doing.
Will there be a memorial? There are many here that would like to know. Pat, I will miss you forever.
Love, Alyce
