George J. Saravanos, 77, of Holiday, Florida, passed away on April 22, 2026, after a long illness.
Born in New London, Connecticut, George served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Proud of his Greek heritage, he was known for his friendly, easygoing personality and fun-loving spirit.
He is survived by his loving wife Maria, daughter Sophia Eteau (Mark), son Dimitris, and cherished granddaughter Elizabeth. He is also survived by his siblings, Anthony Saravanos (Mary Ann) and Anna Ferrara (Joseph), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Sophia Saravanos.
He is now at peace and free from pain. George will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 36 N Pinellas Ave, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689.
Burial will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 10:30 am, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of George Saravanos to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral Restoration Project:

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you go through this difficult time. George told me a few months ago that his love for his granddaughter is what motivated him to get well. He will be her guardian angel’ now, watching over her always. I was blessed to have conversations with him over the years. He loved his family and took pride in all of you.
