Marilyn B. Barnes, 91, of Holiday, Florida, passed away on May 7th, 2026. She was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to John and Rowena Bracknell on November 1st, 1934.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Elbert Horton Barnes. She is survived by her sons Elbert Horton (Cathy) Barnes Jr. of New Port Richey, Florida and John Austin (Linda) Barnes of Daphne, Alabama; her grandchildren Alexia (Michael) Aguilera of Long Beach, California, Corrine (Michael) Kilma of New Port Richey, Florida, Austin (NoBae) Barnes of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Andrew (Anastasia) Barnes of Penobscot, Maine; as well as great-grandchildren Zia Aguilera and Jack Barnes.

Since moving to Holiday in 2019, she has been active in the First Baptist Church of Elfers, Pasco County Retired Educators, Sunshine Christian Homes, Ladies Auxiliary, and the University of Alabama Athletic Association.

A memorial service and reception will be held at First Baptist Church of Elfers at a later date. Memorials may be made to Lottie Moon Christmas Offering of First Baptist Church of Elfers at 4050 Redleaf Drive, New Port Richey, FL 34652. At her request, her body has been donated to the Anatomical Board of the state of Florida.

Marilyn was a wonderful Christian lady, one of the finest I’ve ever met. She was very dedicated to her Lord and her church. A few years ago I joined with her when we learned to play handbells and actually played 2 songs in a church service. Such fun!!

Two words come to mind when I think of Marilyn: ROLL TIDE!
