Sherry Alene Kling (Dunning), age 68, of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully in hospice care on May 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on April 9, 1958 in Canton, Ohio to Richard and Alberta Dunning, Sherry was raised in Alliance, Ohio and later in Largo, Florida. She spent many years working as a talented seamstress, both professionally and as a cherished personal passion.
Sherry also served as a marketing specialist for the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce under the direction of Sue Thomas, where she took great pride in supporting local businesses and serving her community. Her compassion for others extended well beyond her professional life. She devoted time to supporting local ministries that worked alongside Oldsmar Cares Food Pantry to help provide food assistance to seniors in need. Sherry was also an active member of Friends of Anclote Key, a Citizens Support Organization dedicated to preserving the Anclote Islands and Lighthouse in partnership with the Florida State Park Service. Outside of her community involvement, Sherry enjoyed gardening with her husband, Doug, and had a special love for animals, especially her beloved dogs and cats, who were always close to her heart.
Above all, Sherry will be remembered for her unwavering faith, strong convictions, kindness, generosity, and steadfast devotion to her family and friends.
Sherry is survived by her husband Douglas Kling; children Shawn Avera (Loni) and Jannah Chenel (Tom); grandchildren Dylan Paschall, Jannessa Landreth, Colton Woodin, and Kyle Chenel; great-grandson Nolan Woodin; and sisters Shelley Walker and Sandi Phaneuf.
Sherry was preceded in death by her Parents, Richard and Alberta Dunning, her brother Steve Dunning, and her great-grandson Tristan Paschall.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 23rd at 10 a.m. at Howard Park Beach, located at the end of Howard Park Causeway in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Sherry’s memory to:
