January 01, 1941~May 24, 2026

Edward Hayes Fuhs, 85, of New Port Richey, FL passed away on Sunday May 24, 2026 surrounded by his family. Ed was born on January 1, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Roy and Betty Fuhs. Growing up, he loved riding bikes, playing ball, and spending time with friends—many of whom he remained close to throughout his life. During his high school years, he enjoyed fast cars, dancing and doo-wop.

He had a love of music that stayed with him forever. Whether being a DJ or organizing dances for charity events and around the neighborhood, he had a gift for bringing people together and creating joy.

For over 62 years, he shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, Janice, whom he met during his service in the Air Force when they were just 20 and 21 years old. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.

His career with Celotex brought the family to Florida, where he worked hard to provide a wonderful life for his children—complete with a pool, a boat, private Catholic school education, and cherished family trips to Disney.

Ed had a lifelong passion for football, including coaching Little League. He greatly  enjoyed fantasy football, especially playing alongside his brother Fred. He also had a deep appreciation for World War II history and model airplanes, interests he carried well into retirement.

A devoted Catholic, Ed found strength and peace in his faith through Mass, prayer, and wearing his scapular. Above all else, he treasured his family.

He was the proud father of three children and grandfather of seven.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Marihelen and his granddaughter Haley Fuhs.

He is survived by his wife Janice, daughters Maribeth (Morgan) Gaynor and Stephanie (Bob) Bertig, and son Roy Fuhs; grandchildren Keegan Fuhs, Colin, Evan and Alec Gaynor,  and Meghan and Maya Bertig; brother Fred (Barb) Fuhs, and sisters Patti LeCuyer and Pam (John) Wulff, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and devotion to family.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 15, 2026 at 11:00am

Following the Mass, interment will take place at Trinity Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends are then warmly invited to gather at the Waters Edge Clubhouse for food, refreshments, and fellowship in remembrance of Ed.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to a cause close to Ed’s heart – the National Alliance on Mental Illness at donate.nami.org or St. Joseph’s Indian School at stjo.org/flowers.

Ed was a great guy and mentor – the father of polyiso! I was a Thermax Specialist for 6 years and proud of it due to Ed. He knew the product, how to sell it, and pass that along to his people.
Thanks Ed! RIP.

I knew Ed, while at Celotex, he as the Thermax Product Manager was always considerate and made time to explain anything. I much enjoyed our chats and thought very highly of him.
My thoughts are with your family at this time.
