With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Barbara “Bonnie” Olenski, who departed this world peacefully on May 27, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on December 30, 1942, in Corona, New York, Bonnie lived a life defined by compassion, resilience, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She possessed a rare combination of kindness and strength, meeting life’s challenges with determination, grace, and a strong will that inspired everyone around her. Her warm heart, generous spirit, and genuine care for others left an indelible mark on countless lives.
In 1971, Bonnie made her home in New Port Richey, Florida, where she would remain for more than five decades. The family home she lovingly maintained became the heart of countless family gatherings and celebrations. It was a place where generations were raised, traditions were passed down, and cherished memories were made. More than just a house, it was a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and the unwavering presence of a woman whose greatest joy was caring for those around her.
Throughout her life, Bonnie dedicated herself to serving others. As a nurse, she provided comfort and healing. As a teacher, she nurtured minds and encouraged growth. As a community activity director, she brought people together, fostering friendship, joy, and a sense of belonging. Her work reflected her belief that every person deserves kindness, dignity, and connection.
Above all, Bonnie cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, a proud and loving grandmother, a treasured friend, and a pillar of her community. Her greatest happiness came from the people she loved and the memories they created together.
Bonnie is lovingly survived by her daughter, Joyce Alicia Porch; her son-in-law, Michael Porch; and her beloved granddaughters, Lauren Porch and Alicia Porch, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Olenski, and later by her cherished life partner, Paul Chilcot, both of whom she carried in her heart throughout her life.
Those who knew Bonnie will remember her gentle wisdom, her welcoming smile, her steadfast support, and her ability to make everyone feel valued and loved. Whether through a comforting conversation, a helping hand, or a simple act of generosity, she enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
While her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her legacy lives on in the lessons she taught, the love she shared, and the countless lives she touched. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family, friends, neighbors, and community members.
A funeral service celebrating Bonnie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on June 15, 2026, at Our Lady Queen of Peace, located at 5340 High Street, New Port Richey, FL, 34652, followed by a remembrance gathering at the Quality Inn adjacent to the church. Light lunch will be served as Family and friends are invited to come together to honor her remarkable life and share memories of the joy she brought to so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, a cause that reflects Bonnie’s lifelong commitment to helping those in need. Donation information can be found here: St Vincent dePaul in Pasco, How You Can help!.
Though we mourn her loss, we celebrate a life rich with love, service, friendship, and compassion. Bonnie’s spirit will remain with us always—in every act of kindness, every family gathering, and every life made better by her presence.
Forever loved, unfailingly remembered, permanently missed.
