Margaret Eileen Funcheon June, known as Peggy to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Monday, June, 8, 2026 surrounded by her children. She was born in Woodside, Queens in 1951 and raised in Tompkins Cove, NY. She married Vernon “Digger” June in 1973 and had three children: Jennifer, Michael, and Matthew. She was a resident of Montgomery, NY, River Vale, NJ, and most recently Holiday, FL. She was 73.

Peggy most enjoyed taking care of her family, including her niece Deirdra, and her grandchildren Joey and Cooper. She could always be found in the stands of all her children’s sporting events, cheering them on. She even took her kids to heavy metal concerts when they asked, even though she did not enjoy the music. Peggy always came through for her children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. The only thing she loved besides her family was a Marlboro cigarette.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Jennifer June (Paul Muller), her sons Michael (Jess Klein) and Matthew (Christy Bates), her niece Deirdra Funcheon (Brad Oliver), and her grandsons Joseph Valente and Cooper Funcheon. She is also survived by her siblings Uncle Bill (Funcheon), John Funcheon, Thomas Funcheon, and Phillip Funcheon (Donna) and her in-laws Rita Feeney, Glenn June (Ginger), and Lynn Helchowski (John). She leaves behind several nieces and nephews: Bill Funcheon (Sue) , Eddie Funcheon, Suzanne Sparta (Anthony), Kelly June (Gary), Chris June, Lori Feeney, Michael Feeney (Kerry), John Helchowski (JeniLyn), Melissa Kolarik (Phillip), Donna Funcheon, Katie Funcheon, Joseph Helchowski (Jackee), Devin Funcheon, Jacqueline Helchowski (Leon Branchard), Kara Valliere (Patrick Valliere), Phillip Funcheon, Kylie Funcheon, Jenna Funcheon (Philip Lambert), JP Funcheon, and 28 great nieces and nephews.

Meeting her at the smoking lounge in the sky will be her late husband Vernon, her parents Edward and Muriel Funcheon, her mother and father-in-law Vernon and Veronica June, sister Muriel Funcheon, her brothers Edward, James, and Paul Funcheon, as well as her sister in-laws Alexa Funcheon and MJ Davidson, brother in-law Owen Feeney,  and her nephew Kevin Feeney.

A celebration of Peggy’s life will take place at later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
