Joan Mary Mowry passed away peacefully at the Dr Jay Weil Center for Hospice Care .She was the daughter to Dorothy (Kirkman) and Edward Brunelle of RI and sister to her twin Jean McDonald and brother, Edward Brunelle. She was preceded in death by her husband William Mowry and her son William Mowry Jr. She is survived by her son David (Lori) Mowry of Hudson, Florida and her daughter Lynne Glaser of Glendale, RI. Joan was a devoted mother, always putting her children first above her needs and always managed to provide for them even when times were tough. She is the adored grandmother to 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as “Nanny” to several children she cared for most of her life and loved like her own. Joan was an avid shopper and was content to shop for hours. She loved entertainment and went to see many of the” greats” back in the day. She loved music and dancing. Even when her legs wouldn’t hold her she would be dancing in her chair and singing to her favorite songs. She enjoyed travelling with her children all over New England for their swim meets. She was their biggest fan but often missed many a race because she got so nervous she would be in the bathroom. She was always a real “fashion plate”. Everything matched from head to toe and she hated to be seen without her earrings on. It wasn’t uncommon for her and her twin to still dress alike whenever they got together even into their 80s. She loved to decorate and you could be assured that her house would look like Christmas no matter the month of the year. Her laugh and her great hugs will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. A private service with family will be on July 28th followed by celebrations of life in both RI and Florida in the near future.

Growing up Joan and Jean were always part of my life. From the time I was 5 years old till they got married they lived across the street from us. in later years we were separated by miles, but when we were able to be together it was just like yesterday! I will always remember the times together. You are gone from us, but not our memories.
