It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Ivey, who departed this life unexpectedly after a brief illness on July 15, 2026.

Larry was born on June 12, 1965, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Robert Alexander Ivey Sr. and Marie Jean Ivey. Throughout his life, he exemplified kindness, humor, integrity, and dedication. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

Larry grew up in Tampa and graduated from Hillsborough High School. He went on to build a successful career as an accountant, a profession that allowed him to put his keen analytical mind and meticulous attention to detail to work every day. His colleagues remember him not only for his professionalism and competence but also for his quick wit, generous spirit, and warm smile, which brightened the workplace and left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

A passionate advocate for his community and the environment, Larry devoted his time to helping keep Tampa’s rivers and Tampa Bay shorelines clean. An avid scuba diver, he volunteered at The Florida Aquarium, assisting with the maintenance and cleaning of viewing tanks. He also enjoyed shooting sports and was a proud member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Tampa Bay Flotilla 79.

During his lifetime, Larry enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests. Whether he was boating, scuba diving, or spending time at the shooting range, he approached everything with enthusiasm and gave it 150 percent. One of his greatest joys was sharing his knowledge with others and teaching the importance of safety while participating in the activities he loved. Larry also enjoyed good food and good company. His favorite restaurants included Village Inn, Sonny’s BBQ, Outback Steakhouse, and Carrabba’s Italian Grill, where he often met his brother Gary to share meals, laughter, and cherished time together.

Service to others was an important part of Larry’s life. Through his involvement with the Coast Guard Auxiliary, he contributed to maritime safety and public education, demonstrating a strong commitment to helping others and strengthening his community. His willingness to serve and his dedication to causes he cared about inspired many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Above all, Larry treasured his family. He is survived by his brothers: Gary Ivey and his husband, James; Randy Ivey and his wife, Shelley; Brian Ivey and his wife, Kellee; and Bobby Ivey and his wife, Charlene. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Zachary Ivey, Ry-Lee Ivey, Brandon Ivey, and Shawney Hines, along with their families, who will continue to honor and carry forward his legacy.

Larry was also a devoted pet owner and cherished his beloved cats, Marly and Orca. Following his passing, Marly and Orca will make their home with Gary and James, where they will continue to be loved and cared for as a reminder of Larry’s lasting presence in their lives.

Though he is no longer with us, Larry’s spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

A private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate and honor Larry’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice or to an organization that supports maritime safety and education, reflecting Larry’s lifelong commitment to service and community.

Larry’s absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy of love, laughter, service, and dedication will continue to inspire all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace.
