Joan M. Keeton, 92, of New Port Richey, passed away peacefully in Hospice care on July 13,
2026. Joan was born in Tamaqua, PA on February 12, 1934 and moved to Florida with her
first husband, Lloyd Koch (deceased) and family in 1957.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Keeton; along with parents, Willard
and Arlene Arner and brother, Kenneth Arner.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Sharon Lanier of Holiday, FL, and Lisa Godwin of
Jonesborough, TN; her sister, Carolyn Cornett of Arcadia, CA; her brother, Eugene Arner
(Mary) of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren, Melissa Sharp-Kainth (Perry), Pierce Godwin
and Sarah Godwin; three great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Joan worked mainly in construction/property management as an oZice administrator and
retired as a highly regarded executive secretary from Bruce Strumpf, Inc. in Clearwater, FL.
Upon retirement, she moved to Charlotte, NC with her husband, Eugene, the love of her
life, starting their new adventures. They thoroughly enjoyed their time in Charlotte and
even moved back a second time. After her husband’s passing, she later moved back to
Florida to be with her daughters and grandchildren to spend the rest of her life.
Joan always had a well-rounded life of prioritizing time with family, friends and travel. She
had a zeal for life and always loved to explore and try something new. She was a loving and
caring mother, grandmother, sister and friend who was always there to oZer support when
needed.
The family will hold a small graveside service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery,
2853 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL 33759 on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Noon. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Gulfside Hospice, New Port Richey, FL or
Metropolitan Ministries, Holiday, FL.
