Alex Lopez Jr., beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 64.

Alex was born in Havana, Cuba, on September 13, 1961, and moved to the United States with his family before his first birthday. From an early age, Alex was a go-getter, driven, determined, and never afraid to work hard for what he wanted. He owned a jet ski business in his early years. He was known as a perfectionist who researched, planned, and gave 110% to everything he did.

His greatest joy, however, was his family. Alex met the love of his life, Olympia, when he was a customer at Barnett Bank, where she worked as a banker. They married in January 1993 and shared more than 33 years together. Alex was a devoted husband and father who always put his family first. Even during his final moments, he remained focused on making sure everyone else was okay.

Alex loved cars, especially his Corvette, and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He loved boating and had a lifelong passion for adventure that began as a child playing with toy cars. Some of his favorite memories were family trips to North Carolina, adventures at Disney, and riding roller coasters with his family. Hawaii held a particularly special place in his heart. He loved it so much that he always said he would never return unless it was to move there.

Alex will be remembered for his determination, generosity, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy of hard work and devotion will live on through the people who knew and loved him.

Alex is preceded in death by Alexander Lopez and Suzanne Lopez.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Olympia Lopez; his children, Alexander Lopez, Mikala Allen and his son-in-law, Samuel Allen; his sister, Lydia Radney Brown, and her husband, John Brown, along with extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

A service celebrating Alex’s life will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
