Richard Carl Schreep passed away peacefully at home on September 25, 2026, after an extended and courageous battle with cancer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Henry and Shirley Crawford Schreep, and his older brother Stephen Schreep.

Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judith Leach; his son Carl Thomas of Philadelphia, PA; his daughter Ellanna Schreep & his granddaughter Ella Rose of Land O’ Lakes, FL; and his brother Robert Terry Schreep of Kennett Square, PA.

Born in Canton, Ohio, Richard spent his early years there before relocating to Kennett Square, Pennsylvania during his junior year of high school. He graduated from Penn State University in State College, PA, and later earned his Master’s Degree from the University of San Francisco. Richard lived in Point Arena, Mendocino County, CA for many years before returning to the East Coast, residing in Boston, Massachusetts, and then Unionville, Pennsylvania, where he married Judith and raised their two children.

In September 2018, Richard retired to North Port, Florida, and recently moved to Hudson, Florida, to be closer to Ellanna and his granddaughter Ella. Ella brought joy, laughter, and light to every moment spent with her “Papa,” and their bond was one of the greatest joys of his life.

Richard loved being on the water in his kayak and found peace in nature. He was an avid reader, and his Kindle was never far from his side. A quiet, gentle soul, Richard touched the lives of those around him with kindness, steadiness, and warmth. He is deeply missed by his family.
