In memory of Dr. James McHenry Nielsen
March 1, 1942-January 13, 2021
James McHenry Nielsen of Clearwater, Fl passed away on January 13, 2021. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Jim was a practicing ophthalmologist, proud veteran, inventor, avid sportsman and athlete, world record holding angler, and true renaissance man beloved by his family, patients, fellow fisherman and friends around the world.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dane, children, Kirstjen, Fletcher and Ashley, two grandchildren, and sisters, Sandy and Gail.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to two causes he cared about deeply.
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing- dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitations of those disabled during active military service

Bonefish and Tarpon Trust- whose mission is to conserve and restore bonefish, tarpon and permit fisheries and habitats through research, stewardship, education and advocacy.
We will post additional information about a memorial service to celebrate his life when it becomes available.

I very sorry for your loss… just read the obit on Jim.
I was Jim’s college roommate at Rutgers University during his freshman year.
I did contact him a while back regarding our 60 reunion… but he was not able to attend.

My most sincere condolences to the Nielsen family. Although we went down different paths in a different part of the country and have not seen each other since college summers, the bonds of Fairmont JHS and Hackensack HS are automatically revived. God bless you all.
