Jim met his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021. He was born in 1941 in Knoxville, TN. Jim loved sports; he played football, baseball and basketball. After graduating from Fulton High School in Knoxville, he went on to get his bachelor’s degree at East Tennessee State University. After graduation, Jim joined the United States Marine Corps, graduated from Officer Candidates School and served his country in Vietnam. He also taught classes at Basic School, was a firearms instructor and a platoon commander. Following his duty in the Marine Corps, Jim joined the FBI where he became a Special Agent and worked out of the Los Angeles field office.
Upon retirement from the FBI, he and his family moved to Florida to play golf and enjoy the grandchildren. Jim loved and was devoted to his family. He and his wife, Linda, have four children: Chip Jones (Wendy), Tim Jones (Penny), Jill Ransome (Dawson), Jennifer Jones and eight grandchildren: Jessi, Kyler, Zack, Bryce, Taylor, Riley, Daniel and Hartley. Jim was an active member and a Deacon at First Baptist Church in New Port Richey. His life was built on his faith in God, his love for his family and serving his country. He is now rejoicing with the Lord. Jim is preceded in death by his father James Darwin Jones, his mother Helen Jones and his sister Jane Bean. Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, February 18th, 2021 at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church New Port Richey. Burial to be held at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Church in New Port Richey, FL, in memory of Jim.
